welcome
My practice is fully inclusive; I invite and embrace clients of all backgrounds and identities. I am also particularly attuned and deeply committed to clients of color and supporting their specific needs.
In addition to talk therapy, I host workshops for parents designed to help them repair and improve parent-child relationships, and groups for girls of color that promote positive self-identity and cultural confidence. I create and lead seminars for private groups and companies such as Leading Women Defined and I Am Wholehearted. Most notably, I present on the topic of Emotional Legacy®, exploring the relationship between our generational inheritance and how we think, feel, and connect today.
Beyond my clinical practice, I actively engage with organizations and initiatives championing equity. I am partnered with Equity Engine, a nonprofit working to “create the conditions where women can thrive with greater access to networks, resources, and opportunities;” I served on the Board of Trustees and chaired the DEIJ committee at Park Century School, an independent school educating neurodiverse students with language-based learning differences; and I co-chaired the inaugural year of the Trustee Leadership Program for Private School Village, a nonprofit organization dedicated to “positively transform the private school experience for Black and Brown families so that students fully thrive.”
I am a proud alumna of Howard University where I earned a bachelor’s degree in English, and of Pepperdine University where I graduated magna cum laude with a master’s in Clinical Psychology, with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. With a background in education, I also hold a Master Teacher designation in Early Childhood Education. #teacher
Enough about me! Schedule a call so I can learn a bit about you.
I’m Heather, and I’m so glad you’re here. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT#161609) based in Los Angeles, offering both in-person and virtual therapy sessions.
I work with women, children, teen girls, couples, and families to address a variety of concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, relational issues, family dynamics, and school-based challenges.
My work as a therapist is through our connection. I don’t approach therapy in an overly clinical or one-size-fits-all way. Instead, I take an individualized, relationship-based approach that is warm, collaborative, and conversational. I provide a safe and non-judgmental space to explore your thoughts and feelings, to gain insight to better understand your current experience, and to offer practical guidance to help you navigate the world. With children, I incorporate art, story, and play to foster their awareness around emotions and to develop necessary self-regulation and self-advocacy skills.
